What I learned that works very well as well is using two different size needles so like ones a big one and the other a little one so you use the big one to do the outline and get the post and use the little one to fill in the gaps
did mine with a stick n poke kit from Amazon n it's been there 7 years almost, only took the first go to get it to stick
