you can tell from the comments how people were raised and how they are raising their own children. Personally I believe in discipline. and I repeat discipline, not abuse. Those of us who were raised to be respectful turned out ok. We are not abusive.

She didn't even hit the child, but if the parents got a problem with the nanny, come get your damn kid and raise him yourself. But in my day we would've got our ass's tore up by being disrespectful.

see, that's why this generation is so rude, disrespectful, and entitled. It definitely takes a village. Back in my day we had corpol punishment in schools, family and even friends of family would reprimand you if needed if they knew you, and then pass you on to your parents.

Both of my kids are in their 40’s and I’m very proud of how they have grown up to be. I spent the first 5 years teaching them right from wrong and the earlier the better before they got a mind of their own and I didn’t do more then spank their hands or their diapered bottom so I got their attention so I could explain what they did wrong and make sure they understood. The most important part of teaching your children is to be consistent with every yes and every no . Being a parent isnt about what’s convenient for yourself it’s about teaching your children what is except able what’s not acceptable period and showing respect to others. As you build their self esteem and worth.

I have taken care of children since I was 12 years old. I have one adult child and 2 grandchildren. My adult child when she was growing up got a smack on the butt when she needed it. My grandchildren when I was taking care of them while both parents worked either got a smack on the butt or time out. Never when I was taking care of someone else child did I smack them. I was born in the 50's so I am old school.

My sister used timeout and her daughter is doing wonderful things in life. Wasn't spanked once. I got hit as a child I would have liked timeout more. SI still carry the scars.
