We always keep our doors locked even though we are home! One day while home by myself I heard what sounded like someone trying to get into the house. It might have been my imagination.Nevertheless keep your doors locked no matter what! I also never open the door if someone rings the doorbell ! It’s not being paranoid it’s being careful you never know about people nowadays!
My grandma says they are called door shakers. They went around turning doorknobs to see if they could get in and go through a person's home looking for anything of value, especially money. Not to mention whatever else they could do. Can you imagine what it was like before locks?
