For those running their mouths, here's the truth: The NFL's longest field goal record for a regular-season game is 66 yards, set by Justin Tucker of the Baltimore Ravens on September 26, 2021. In the 2024 preseason, Jaguars kicker Cam Little kicked a 70-yard field goal, which was the longest kick ever made in any NFL game, but it is not officially recognized as a record because it occurred in the preseason.
Tom Dempsey was the first professional American football player to kick a field goal longer than 60 yards, making a 63-yard kick in 1970 for the New Orleans Saints. This kick set an NFL record that stood for over 40 years, proving that determination could overcome perceived limitations, especially as he achieved this with a custom shoe.
It's not an official record. It was in a preseason game. Preseason stats don't count in the record books, career stat lines, or season stat lines.

The NFL has changed how and when they allocate the team balls. Including the "kickers" balls. They have all season now to "soften" them up. It's predicted that these new "records" will have asterisks after them. Like they did with baseball.

In the year 2025, with all the soccer players in the world who are experts at striking a ball with their foot/feet, the NFL shouldn't have a single kicker that can't confidently cover the distance part of a 70 yard field goal. You'd think 90% of soccer players would go through a FG kicking school just to see how accurate they are or could become. It pays pretty well if you are an end of roster pro soccer player or lower.
