I'm all for movies where dirty cops get shot, and I love scenes that break racial stereotypes. I did Harvard's test on implicit bias and it showed I have very minimal implicit bias (on a scale of 1 to 10, with 1 being having zero implicit bias and 10 being intentionally racist, I scored a 2 on the test), but I noticed that I assumed the black captain was actually up to something shady until his daughter was found in the trunk, so I asked why I thought he was up to something. The dreadlocks come from a culture that generally rejects law enforcement as a form of oppression, and to be a police captain, he should be educated enough to understand the meaning behind his locks. At least I know to find out the facts before taking action.
