One of my 2 sons said his teacher told everyone in class. "If your parent hits you, call the police." So I packed 2 plastic grocery bags with clothes for each kid and handed the bags to them to hold. They look at me like, "What's this for? I said, "When the police get here, they will call social services and take you two away." Probably to a special facility to hold kids till they can find you a foster home. Chances are you will not be put together. Then I'm supposed to get a lawyer to fight in court to get you two back with me. Then, the court will order me to take parenting classes and other stuff. so that I can raise both of you to be criminals. Because all I can do to discipline is to talk to you both till I turn blue. And we all know that has never worked in the past. But I'm not going to do that, no way. I'll get a second job so I can pay child support for both of yo]u. And maybe if I have time, I might visit once in a while.
Told my son in the grocery store that if he didn’t stop acting up I was going to spank him. After speaking 4 or 5 times I grabbed him and paddled his butt. The guy behind me, a cop in uniform, said he wondered if I was going to act on the threat 🤣. He just walked on by 😆.

1950s the parents in my families neighborhood met together (all ex-G.I. dads mostly non-com techies). They mutually (¿about half a dozen couples) deputized each other to open hand spank any rude defiant child. If crap happens in your yard YOU take care of it. pledging not to undercut each other. All those kids are the best of citizens, no b-s.
My mom whipped my ass two times in my life with a belt after that she could snap her fingers and we would look and get the face of death if we didn’t straighten up right then and there . There was no time out or go to your room it was right then and there. !

What that mother did was not abuse, it was discipline. If that had been my mother she would have hit me more than 3 times. I would have been too terrified to call anyone, especially the cops. The only one I could have called would have been God Himself. I really do like the way John handled the situation.

This is what the schools tell the kids. It is sad that many parents are afraid to discipline their children because they are afraid of having the police or child services called.

There's a huge difference between discipline and abuse. When I was in elementary school the principal was allowed to paddle unruly students and parents wouldn't have dreamed of complaining.
I am a baby boomer and yes I got the belt when I was really bad. My kids got the belt if they did something really wrong as well. I agree that this is why some kids today are one step above garbage and we see what we see!
I disciplined my son once and he called the police on me. The police told him I had every right to do what I did and if son does it again the police officer would met out that same discipline to my son himself. Told my son to straighten up.

My son was skipping stones at cars when he was about 11 or 12. I had a police officer show up at my door looking for my son. When I asked why he proceeded to tell me what my son was doing with his friends. So I said to him you are so getting spanked, I said this in front of the officer. My son pipes up and says you can't spank me it's child abuse. The PO said I tell you what I will stand here and watch her, as long as she hits you on your bottom it's allowed. So I did and my son learned a big lesson that day. He changed his tune after that. I have told all my grandchildren I believe in capital punishment and show them the paddle. They all know if you show your ass you get the paddle. Afterwards we sit and have a discussion about their actions followed by a hug and a I love you. Guess what? They still love me and turn to me when they have issues. So I guess we have mutual respect and love which is not a bad thing in my book.
🌸when I was a kid. the principal of the school had the right, that if you misbehaved at school to take you to the boilerroom and smack your behind with a paddle. and in my case if I got in trouble at school, I was in. bigger trouble at home. 2 spankings in a day was a lot more than I wanted.

Exactly how it should have been handled!! As an LEO, I responded to a burglary of a residence. It involved two fourteen year olds, contacted the single mother who was working, and she sent their uncle to the scene. Well, this guy was jacked, and he said, "Officer, I'm sorry for what im about to do as I just got out of prison for doing dumb shit as a young man." He proceeded to literally whoop their asses with his hand on their asses! The victim of the burglary was stunned and, in shocked that there was instant justice served. She proceeded to say she didn't want any prosecution as they definitely got their punishment more than than the NY court system would have given them! I then released them into his custody, and he assured their punishment wasn't over with to the victim. Good old ass whooping does justice at times!

We need more officers like this! Schools and society are/have been creating a bunch of snowflakes. I wouldn't have been able to sit for a week had I been caught ditching school at that age.
