actually, my BIL bought a house without telling my sister. They were 21 and 19 with two little ones. the house had no bathroom, just a toilet that was in one corner of what was the living room, the windows were falling off, no water (needed a well) was very remote area with the closest store 20 minutes away. They live close to a river so they would bathe in the river. She cooked using an electric skillet and on top of a kerosene heater. He had a vision for the house and it all worked out. He did all of the work himself and it is a very nice place now. I couldn't have done what she did, but they are happy and married 50 years now!
