The confrontation was orchestrated by the vigilante group Dads Against Predators (DAP) and took place in the parking lot of a Target store in Mount Vernon. Kemp-Neal had served as an ADA since June 2020, handling cases related to assault, harassment, and child endangerment. He resigned from his position on July 17, 2024, four days after the video was made public. As of now, no criminal charges have been filed against him, but authorities have indicated that a comprehensive investigation is underway
