It's totally unprofessional. This should never have taken place in front of customers. Consequences are definitely in order. There is something deeper going on here. On the job, treat everyone as a co-worker, not as a friend. Never confide or share personal issues with co-corkers. They are not your friend. You're there to do a job, do it, and don't get entangled with your colleagues. Treat them with respect and go home. Socialization is done on your own time in the appropriate place. If you happen to make a good friend where you work, keep your personal and professional life separate. Live and learn, I wish you all the best.
