This manager is the one being unprofessional. He was hostile and barred him from the store. On what grounds is he barring him? Is it because he's just mad?
I was the maintainance person for the Sears in Seattle 130th & Aurora , 2nd largest store they had. 15 hours a week for maintainance.I had to go find a full time job.
Can’t blame him for quitting…a lot of big box stores do not care about their employees. They rarely hire full time people so they don’t have to pay decent humane benefits, but they work them up to 36 hours per week. Then they want their employees to pretend to be happy with their situation. It is really sad they get by with this while they make multi billion dollar profits. It makes me sick to think about how much of our work force is treated.
They do it so you’re not getting fired and do not get to collect unemployment. Making you quit ensures that outcome

bought a set of tires from Sears once, they put them on and 2 days later on Christmas morning going to work and my tire literally comes off my vehicle while driving! no surprise they closed

Box stores keep hours low so they always have workers because turnover is very high. They pay as little as possible, keep benefits minimal and really don’t care. Someone is always available. Those stores put bottom line and top end above all workers needs, rights and performance. It will stay that way till a box store union is started and demand fair treatment.

yeah well u know you can file for unemployment while you are still working there? if you quit, you can't do that. if you were hired for part time, 20-29 hours and they are only giving you a couple a week, you can get supplemental unemployment. most people don't know that and companys know that so they give you almost no hours so you quit and they don't have to pay unemployment. I wish more people would do this so that crap stop cause how many people are gonna drop your hours and then have to pay partial unemployment? nope, they will either fire you altogether and you can get the full unemployment or they will start giving you hours.
Some stores want you to have open availability. You can't even look for a job with more hours, unless you quit prior to a new job search.

na let's be real as a retail manager we cut hours due to multiple factors lack of business performance and needs if I don't want you there and can't legit fire u the min hours I can give u is 4-8hrs a week and that's what I will do then once being fired or resigning the manager is to walk them out but they should stay silent as they walk them out...grow up people

man I just recently got my first job and had to quit within 5 weeks because they first promise me $9 an hour turned out they lied and I was actually making minimum wage which is $5 after taxes and they started to slowly work my hours down every week till they gave me 0 hours. almost everybody said I was a good worker and turned out guy before me quit the same way
