I disagree with some of the comments indicating that the female was stupid or worse because she wasn't afraid. Animals can sense human's intentions. She didn't make any hostile moves and he smelled her and the Elephant determined that she wasn't a treat. Animals respond to threats. Love is felt between species.

Hmm, this really isn’t a good idea. Doesn’t matter that it’s been nice in the past, this elephant lives in the wild and as such, it truly is a wild animal. They can run you down and stomp you to death. Letting him come up to the jeep allows him to have access that is too close to people. There must be boundaries, for safety, that is used across the board
