My son got an allowance every week but could spend some and rest went into an bank account. So proud to pay for a shirt for mom one day when we went shopping. And then I needed to borrow a dollar one day and he then made me pay interest on the dollar I borrowed!!! Still makes me laugh when I think about it.

This young man and especially his parents and their parenting are exemplary of teaching economics and financial responsibility as well as instilling a grounded understanding of the value of work and financial responsibility.
I have done the same. It's a tough world out there. These are survival skills which 4 of mine graduated from. I have absolutely no worries that they will be fine when I'm gone. They have never ,nor the need to ever ask me for money. My youngest now 30.

It taught them responsibility, the value of a dollar, that money doesn't grow on trees, and so many other life lessons about moneythat they've carried into adulthood! when my boys were young, I started having them buy everybody we celebrated Christmas with, at the dollar store! I would give each one $12.00. They loved it! And they were so proud when they gave them out. Watching them open their present!! They were 3 + 5 yrs old when we started this!

Great job parents!! We did the same when r kids were young. As they aged and got jobs my husband trained them to save 1/2 of their money and spend the rest. Older still he taught them to save for their futures! They are 50 & 48. Debt free and their spouse are are. Happy too💕
