Immigration laws must be enforced. Also the 14th amendment should be reviewed in accordance with the context of the time it was written into the constitution. It was written in the years after the Civil War to grant citizenship to people who were brought into this country involuntarily and their descendants. It was not meant to apply to those who come into country and refuse to be under the jurisdiction of the government. If both parents choose to remain undocumented, then their only legal status is that of citizens of their country of origin and any children who are born in this country should have the same status. If neither parent is legally entitled to stay in this country, then they AND their children should have the same status. I’m sorry if this sounds harsh but my ancestors fought and some died to bring this nation into being, and if they think they can wade through a river and get all the benefits without taking the effort to obey the rules I won’t help them.
