The cuts to illegal immigrants getting snap and medical benefits were already voted on and approved. The current BS is because republicans proposed a simple continuing resolution which adds nothing new. Simply a request to continue the government as it stands. The democrats added a provision not only adding benefits for illegal immigrants with no mention of American citizens, but in fact more benefits for illegal immigrants. No matter how you slice it, democrats are holding American benefits hostage until republicans agree to use tax payer money for illegal immigrants free food housing and more. Also former Kamala running mate admitted his state is giving IDs that he explicitly said they could use for voting to illegal immigrants. This whole thing is because democrats built up a system to bring in migrants illegally, get them stuck on the freebies and get them to vote democrats into power.
