why not just use the waste out mode and backwash hose on your filter where the water can be directed to a runoff or away from the pool? I would be concerned doing that to much in one area could soften the ground and cause leveling issues.

That works, but why not backwash and clean your filter while lowering the water level? Also, be careful letting water drain that close to the edge of the pool. If you wash out the sand from underneath your liner will stretch and eventually tear.
put a hose end on long end of the pipe and you could run the water away from the pool of out in the yard
