it's to fast-clean SIVERware, but I was taught to line bottom of pan with foil then add cream of tartar and I always heated water to just under boiling.Voolla! lots quicker than brush, silver polish and many rags(to be washed out, dried, and folded for next time lol)

If this were silver or silver plate, it would make sense, but it's stainless, so doesn't need baking soda. I guess Grandma was cleaning silverware, but you are cleaning stainless. 🤔
