you cannot do this stop stop now there's a metal ring around the glass pot no no this will blow your microwave up not to mention it will bust your coffee pot cause there's a thick metal band around the pot plus this way can cause a fire when you turn your back.

Don’t fall for it! NEVER PUT ANY METAL!!! In the microwave … There is a band of metal around the bottom of the coffee pot- Metal in a microwave causes Arcing- it will ruin the microwave and probably make the pot shatter.

OK. I put a small metal cat bowl (with rubber on the bottom)in my microwave everyday for 9 secs. no problem. trick is the rubber bottom prevents sparks.
