Something does not make sense here. If the tent is opened without supports to keep the structure standing, what stops the structure from collapsing as the interior air escapes

if you're going to do all that, might as well just stay at home. maybe it's just my generation, but for me camping out means roughing it, just give me a decent tent, and a sleeping bag, a radio, some chips sandwiches, and pop, and someplace in the woods, and I'll be fine.
