I grew up eating these donuts. We used the middle holes, too. We made them on the stove. We also patted them down with paper towels to absorb as much oil as possible and used white sugar or cinnamon and sugar. They're actually pretty delicious.
Mix a very small amount of milk with some powdered sugar to make a glaze for the donuts .. it’s yummy
