I know of a major university librarian who, 2 years prior to his planned retirement, answered a student employee’s question about his own pronouns as “ he and him”. The student employee didn’t like his tone. Long story short; the librarian was called in by the head of libraries for many universities and threatened. “One more time and you’re fired”. Where did this start? Where does all of this power come from.
