the smell of marijuana is not a legal reason to search a vehicle People v. Hall (2020) and People v. Lee (2019): most cops are not aware of this. so they still initiate illegal searches based upon it

Cops need to start solving crimes instead of going after people for nothing more than some weed. It's legal in more than half of the country, the other half still use it just as much legal or not. It's far safer for the user and the public than alcohol by far. But the police still waste most of their time on looking for it and harassing anyone they think may have some. While most crimes in our country end up going unsolved, a lot of the time because of lack of police work or interest by police. They are way to busy harassing the citizens they are supposed to serve and protect over a simple plant that has been demonized for the last 100 years over false information and REFER MADNESS. The drug war has been a failure since day one but we just keep the same old tactics and policies that have never and will never change a thing. Can you imagine what our country would be like if we stopped wasting trillions of dollars on this bullshit and used it to better the lives of Americans?
