My neighbor and friend was former pro football with US marine corps and then green bay packers. His thinking was not right. Years later he declined until he died nearly a vegetable state. The ball playing in the Marines saved him from death in Vietnam. I lost all but one member of platoon 181. So I know the high mortality rate. Life can be rough. And death waits.
