(WJAR) — A 75-yr old man from Mystic, Connecticut was attempting to ram his car into a group of people in Stonington faced a judge Wednesday on several charges. The act happened on Saturday, Aug. 30 on Mason Island Road and was all caught on police dashcam video. As seen in the video, an officer approached the driver, identified as Wendell Hisle, 75, and spoke with him before he deliberately drove his vehicle into a stone wall where the victim was sitting with other people nearby. Hisle is then seen driving off in his BMW convertible but stopped a short distance away, and police took him into custody. Investigators said they later learned the suspect had initially backed into and struck another person after being seen speeding and advised to slow down. Hisle was released on a $250,000 bond, appeared in court Wednesday morning. The judge noted that there was no indication of alcohol or health issues.
