People that blame the truck driver are ridiculous. The left lane ended, the drivers in the left lane are responsible for safely merging into the remaining lane. It is not the remaining lanes drivers who are responsible to yield to the lane that is ending.

As a truck driver for over 10 yrs I would have just let that person pass. Yes it irritates me that people don't have patience but I am the professional on the road and it is my job to make sure everyone, my load, and myself is safe. If this trucker really didn't slow down to let them pass, he should not be on that rig.

First of all, I drive a commercial semi for a living, also with some training experience. It's our job to protect the general public at all times from themselves. People do make mistakes, us included. What could have resulted from that incident could have been a serious injury or a fatality. I wouldn't want that on my conscious. It is not part of the training to punish someone or to teach them a lesson. The proper thing to do in that situation would have been to slow down and let them in. Turning it into a grudge match or an ego contest is, needless to say, very unprofessional and potentially deadly. If I was in the position to do so, I would have terminated that driver on the spot. No questions asked.
If you're lane is ending you need to adjust to the traffic in the lane you're merging into. If you're going to slow down fall behind or speed up and get in front, the decision is yours. At the end of the day the person in the lane that is not ending doesn't have to do shit, it's not their responsibility.
The driver of the truck should be fired. He is willing to see someone get seriously hurt or die because of his ego/pride

😒I can’t stand people who speed up to prevent someone from passing, like it’s gonna affect you. And actually you are supposed to use the lane untill it ends, then you do a “zipper” where cars come in one behind the other, this technique helps traffic congestion when done correctly, if you don’t have peoples speeding up every time someone tries to go around, or completely blocking the lane because they think they’re doing a good deed.🙄 when the drivers handbook teaches you how to correctly utilize a merging lane. It is our responsibility, even if we’re right and other vehicles is wrong to prevent accidents, this should’ve never happened if you would’ve kept your speed, the car could have easily gone around you and got in front of you. Which would have not hurt you in anyway, other than your pride. There is a huge shoulder beside you where you should have moved over to once you realize the car was going to hit something. This is called being a defensive driver.

had a truck driver 430am on interstate 70 would let my wife and I pass we were only ones on 3 lanes hwy 3lanes now couldn't pass we called state police 4 unmarked came into action while we talked to dispatcher she told us they were close by and when thy got in view we acknowledged it and the 4 stayed back 1/4 mile and observed for 5 miles then jumped into action arrested him took his license impounded his truck got him on a number of charges drugs alcohol attempted vehicle homicide reckless driving and all my wife and I were doing was driving to work minding our business.Goes to show even on a dark stretch of I 70 can be dangerous when your only car on the road and encounter a semi with a nut case there was an fbi undercover agent running coast to coast with a trucker investigating serial killers
