so that is how 1 shoe will randomly be in the road! I have always wondered why I would see one shoe sometimes when driving. Glad the kid is alive. Do not ever believe you are faster than a car coming from a distance. It may look far away but you can't judge the speed. Be safe and just wait for the sign to tell you to walk please. You should still look in every direction even if it says to walk.

some state laws require you to yield to pedestrians in cross walk regardless of the light

To me it looked like the pedestrian was in the crosswalk area.
I had a kid run between 2 parked cars at 10 pm and wearing all black. Scared me to death. I was driving my son to work, he was a few minutes late because I had to pull over I was shaking so hard. If I hit that kid I don't think I could ever drive again.

That was a straight up stupid move by that kid! That is obviously a busy road so definitely has a *Do Not Cross* warning when the opposite light is Green. When traffic is flowing it is so easy for cars to have a blind spot that doesn't show the person crossing. So don't f'n cross when u know it is not safe...Dumb Kids! He is so lucky he was able to get up after...most the time that's not the case!
