The elk was very ill look at the way it’s walking. Maybe arthritis cancer or something else the animal did not want to live any longer. .
That was the elk's final act of defiance. "Try packing me out of this ravine now hunter dude!"
To the haters: I never shot anything i didn't clean and eat, but I confess to liking being in the outdoors and the challenge of the hunt more than the kill. In my later years I have switched to hunting with a camera. The camera has the advantage that you can go out and shoot them again the next day!

my son-in-law is a hunter, what he kills he eats. He's not a trophy hunter. You can't put all hunters in the same catagory.

if you look closely it appears as though there's something going on in the hindquarters of the animal, like an arrow possibly I'm not quite sure, but if you look closely you can see something back there
there nothing here, saying anyone shot this elk..animals die everyday, from natural causes, ....and yes, its possible some hot and wounded this Elk, but nothing in video, indicates that's what happened.

Recovery of your meat is not impossible. It sucks that the elk stumbled its way into the hole, but, all it takes is some rope, and some assistance, and a winch or a come-along. No way I would let hundreds of pounds of venison just go to waste! God put these animals here for our food, true. Perhaps, He also put this test before you to see if you could overcome this adversity!

I'm pretty sure he was shot. And it wasn't a clean shot either or he would have dropped where he stood. Sad thing is, it's probably gonna be left there unless that ravine has safe access. Sad really.

It looks to me like he stumbled then off-balanced began to slide sideways never gaining purchase and falls over the edge. Nothing intentional. Just nature.
Might as well go down there and end its suffering he could be in pain for days

Looks like he didn’t make a clean kill & of course the animal is the one that suffers. He didn’t make a b-line to finish him off & made him suffer. Rule is you have to end his misery. Shouldn’t even have a permit for hunting!!!!!!! That folks is my Opinion!
