Where the hell did she dig up that ancient phone? She must have gone on a hunting expedition in the depths of her attic to find that corded sucker. We're talking over half a century ago since that was the thing. AT&T owned the entire countries landlines, and overseas calls were made over the transatlantic cable...a cable stretching from the states to Europe. It took them several tries to lay the cable... it snapped the first couple attempts were made until they constructed this machine that fed the cable from the vessel to the bottom of the ocean, and calls were sometimes filled with echoes and dropouts and cutoffs in the middle of a call and they cost a fortune, and it all went into AT$'s pocket. They owned every landline in the country. The model phone she's talking on was very popular. It was called the princess phone. Wild to see one still in existence
