I grew up old school. We played in the woods ,built underground forts and tree forts. We where home by dark for supper and it was yes sir,yes mam,no sir and no mam. Simple rules. Had run ins with the law,but never arrested. Learned to respect other people's rights and the police. When we did wrong we were punished on the spot. I'm 63yrs old, raised by Grandparents! I thank God for the discipline that was given to me growing up. I don't take anyone or anything for granted. Love God, most people and animals. I've learned to respect all that's around me. Never been racist and not ever gonna be. I know right from wrong, and try to stay on the right side of things. I'm not perfect,no one is. I never push God on anyone. My church is where ever I stop to talk to God. Be it home, woods or even Walmart. God is everywhere and in everything around us. Don't put me in building and tell me it's the house of God,it is not. It's just a structure.
You to young to understand we wouldn't raise with a silver spoon we didn't have electronics we come to your house walking or riding a bike you better get it right
...as long as we were in BEFORE the street lights came on, we didn't get our butts belt whooped. ALL she said is exactly true...ALL BITS.
Fk I went to the Drs by myself, got stitches, penicillin shot, wrapped up, then went back out to play only to go home at dusk and tell grandma that the bill would be sent over from the Drs, which was only 1 block away!🥴😂
yes have to keep telling my niece this same thing so in order to not knock her disrespectful butt into next week I'll keep my distance softees
I had a beeper, a betamax VCR, no internet, made phone calls from pay phones using coins, the house phone had no buttons (rotary) we stayed outside, without worries of being hurt or kidnapped, I can go on for 36 paragraphs about how much better those days were than the present.
Damn straight & my momma was a nurse so unless you were bleeding out or damn near dead she could take care of it herself, hell she gave me the choice at 9 do I wanna go to the DR for him to pull my stitches or her. I chose her of course because the wait at the DR would cut into my play time🤣🤣🤣
This lady told the truth how was born in nineteen sixty five And if I did anything wrong.I got my ass whooped by the people down the street my Mama and my grandma
this girl talking nothing but facts I remember I got whooped with anything besides the hand I had flip flops wooden spoons spatulas belts I wasn't allowed to come into the house until the street lights came on and I better be in there as soon as the street lights come on whatever my mom cooked I had to eat if I didn't eat it I didn't eat
preach!!! didn't go in the house for a drink, hell no! we drank out of the garden hose! who's with me??!!
these younger generations are pathetic, useless ,sorry and out of control ,delusional also and so dramatic.
💪🏽 we are the hook ✔️ 🎶 don't forget Patsy Cline and Salt n Peppa.☎️ we would call collect and talk real fast so that we could check in.👄 we speak three languages, actually. She forgot Pig Latin. Illysay anyway.🏆 Second place is the first loser. ☕️ gotta get back to my jet black coffee with zero sugar and as strong💪🏽 as I can make it before it gets less than scalding. ✔️
yesssss we were more afraid of our parents than anybody else.
the 70 babies think they had tuff imagine being alive when cars come into existence and thing they call television yea y'all 79s kids at so tuff with government cheese and tang orange juice and playing Kellogg's cornflakes y'all ain't been through shit it's the early 1900 babies that the real tuff ones like those who grew up during the great depression you 70s babies would have been crying for Scooby do and mrcool mc cool and thundercat acme hour and at least y'all had street lights grandma and granddy didn't have no damn street lights
Best Decades Ever 70s , 80s , 90s ..... Listen to this Lady at least 8 times Please....
this lady is talking the truth I wish times were still like this our country would be a better place and so many people wouldn't be so confused about themselves
Not to mention, if we did something stupid in school, we got punished in school. Not only did we punished in school, we got punished by mom when she came to pick us up, and THEN we got punished by day when he got home from work! So yeah! It's best you just leave us GenXers alone because we will tear you down! Have a nice day!
FACTS 💯....hell, our neighbors could even discipline us and then we got home and got our a$$ best again😂😂😂😂😂😂
we were skating down hills with no stoppers, jumping double Dutch with leg cast on that we got tryna jump a fence. we were latch key kids at 8, come home cook, do your homework and start a load of laundry. WE DA BEST!!!!!
Gen Xers were the last generation to have a chance before this country fell into one of the worst financial crises since the great depression. You also were the last generation to have schooling that didn't involve mass shootings. You all were the last to have a legitimate chance at success or the American "dream." Gen x you were the last to have a childhood without the distraction and struggle of internet and social media. Gen xers, you lucked out.
Exactly! We got our asses handed to us just once because that's all it took. We didn't have cell phones, gaming systems, etc. We had to go outside and use our imagination, drink out of the water hose. We had real childhoods.
slept on power ranger and ninja turtle sheets up until I was 18 still playing Nintendo 64 when everybody had a PlayStation 2 a Debbie cake, bag of chips, and a box of 25 cent baked beans with the huggie juice was only $1.00 I had to wash the car rake the yard fold clothes and do my homework my mama raised me like a real man she showed me how a child should stay out of grown ppl mouth when she and other adults were in each other's company I couldn't believe how fast that old lady hands were when she had to shh my lips 😭 I cried with embarrassment but today I am forever thankful for all the discipline the struggle and most of all the poverty
Gen.X is the F.O.and F O! generation! Most of us Gen Xers could whoop ass no matter what the opponents age is!! I can still beat my girls asses and Im 57 and thier 34 and 35!! Our Generation was the Best generation EVER!! DON'T PLAY WITH US!! 😊
True that, you didn't mess with Mom!! She would knock you into next year without letting you see where you came from.
Raised? GenX? We were the latch key kids, feral kids blowing up toilets with M80s and stealing moms car at 14. No one raised us.
I'm black and from Buffalo and grew up just like she's explaining. She's describing me to the teeth. Preach Lady!
I'm a boomer, same with us. except we needed to be home by 5:00 for dinner. than out again till the street lights came on.
Hell yeah!!! And when the street lights came on and you weren’t home we got the belt and we took it!
I am a 56 yo woman, definitely GenX, but it is us that created millennials and gen z now explain that to me.
Lol this dude didn't grow up with Gen X so he doesn't know. I'm a Xenial, meaning I was one of the little ones that brother or sister had to watch while we waited in the car outside of the bar. Sometimes we had snacks, but most times we just had to keep ourselves busy until the grown ups got back.
what f... was microwave.. better throw that s... in oven... Ride that bike without a seat... cooking popcorn on the stove... dumbass... Gen X...baby
"poking a dead animal in the woods," 😆 😂 my sister cut off the tip of her finger. She told my mom she was hurt. My mom was sewing us clothes and didn't look up. When she finally did and saw all the blood in the kitchen sink, my sister got yelled at for getting blood all over. My sister cut open an ankle while riding a bike, and my mother poured peroxide into it. She did finally take her to the hospital. We were jealous of my other sister because she was allergic to methialade and got neosporine instead. Ask someone about how hard they blew to get it to dry (burned like hell!!!) We wouldn't tell my mom we got hurt. There were 6 of us kids.
I was born 1961 raised by my grandparents. Walked around barefoot, dirt roads, switch and belt or whatever and as close by whooping. I knew how to cook at 9 yrs old. Owned 2 pairs of shoes. Church shoes and school shoes. We raised chickens and hogs in the yard. Had a big garden too. We worked. I started at 8. Tobacco field. The mule was pulling the cart in the tobacco field and I walked behind and picked up fallen leaves. Women were loopy tobacco at the barn. I have so many memories of those good old days. I’m gonna stop
She ain't never lied....We grew up different from these soft ass kids of today. Everything she said from poking dead animals with a stick to building bike ramps to jump damn near killing ourselves. And if you get hurt....you better not go home crying thinking you getting sympathy. Get your ass cussed out and sent back outside. I was told that it won't no money for a hospital bill. I had to be clinging to life. If I'm able to stand. All I got was some peroxide, alcohol or iodine and an ass whooping for being dumb enough to do whatever I did to get hurt. Then sent back outside and told me" I bet your ass won't try it next time" Now get the hell out my face and carry your ass back outside before I really give you something to cry about "😂😂😂
I'm 36, I don't know what I'm labeled as, but I do know these kids nowadays would never know the feeling of just being outside playing all day with not a care in the world, not having cell phones, iPads, etc hell even wifi, Man how I wish I could go back to the 90s
I appreciate everything you are saying because different environments still provide for the same upbringing for people like me
and guess who the parents of Gen x are people born between 1946 and 1964 will call the boomers and we're the guys that made our children tough the way the greatest generation made us tough so don't pull any b******* with either group we don't cotton to that
these kids of today are so bad because they were raised by us now what do we have to say this lady talking her kids are soft because she raised them that way
We most definitely are the whole hook, that is the damn truth.....sarcasm is literally a way we conversate....Biggie, 2pac-,WU-Tang all of them raised us and we f**k'D around all damn day and handled all our shit our damn selves...
It’s all true! By the time I was 11, I could change my own bike tire…take the tire off the bike, take the tire off the rim, take the tube out, find the hole, patch it and reassemble! All because I watched my dad and brother do this with car tires in my dad’s service station. I watched my dad’s garage starting at age 12 for 3-4 hours at night. This included, pumping gas, writing up a bill of sale and closing up shop at 9:00 p.m.
Even though I'm a millennial I was raised by a Trinidadian Boomer mother and her Silent generation mother😳😳😳😳😳 lawd my mother is Queen of reinventing the ass whooping. My kids and the nieces and nephews are finding out now why my siblings and I don't intervene when she's handling business ummm she can whoop all of us 😳😭🤣🤣🤣
what she said. n that's why most of us still fine at almost 50. and in better shape than these 20 somethings walking around naked wit 20 rolls and back tiities hanging out. firm it up or put it away.
All of THAT!!!! My kids can't handle both my mouth and hubby's. Real shit and sacrasm.. we HURT feelings. Everything you said i tell my kids and threaten to punch them in the throat if they feel froggy.
I was in the 4th grade living in Canyon City Colorado at the Base of Skyline mountain. We built a ramp at the bottom of the mountain for our bikes and the line of travel was so close to a mobile home that as soon as you touched down you better make a right turn or you would plow right into that trailer. And we did all that without any safety equipment. That was around 1976. Gen X did shit that you other generations would piss yourselves just thinking about. FAFO!!
I'm a so called "millennial" but I'm more generous x than that. all my siblings were born in the 70's and my parents kinda tasked them with watching me and my younger brother. that being the case we were taught to have fun the way they did. the result was us being held in high regard by our peers for knowing how to have the most fun. yeah, we got in trouble but our names were never forgotten.
fuck ya baby I remember when there weren't even cellphones and people went to the lake in the summer and had face to face relationships and partying was a six pack of beer and a couple of joints and people hung out and had positive things to talk about and you could sleep at night and when you got up the next morning your property was still there...and last but not least people didn talk shit unless they needed an ass beatn !!!!
My mom once sent me to the dentist, which was about 2 miles from the house, with an insurance form when I was 9 years old to get a cavity filled. It was my 1st dentist appointment but if I wanted it filled I'd better hi tail it before I missed my appointment at 9 am sharp. I made it in plenty of time. Was I scared? Hell yeah but cavities hurt, ya know?
yeah except you're not a true gen xer just saying true gen xers don't need to say anything or put their crap on tiktok or any of these other social media apps they just do their shit so you're out here acting like you one of them but you ain't you're just a Karen that's what you look like that's what you're acting like that's what you sound like true gen xers wouldn't have said anything that you saying they just going to do it bye Karen
😂😂😂😂Well said!
Bro, I’m only 16 yet again I’ve been through more stuff than most of the people in my family that are older younger than me any of it and let’s not talk about what the kids nowadays go through. They go through a lot worse than what I used to go through I don’t care what y’all say
My parents are 45 they’re millennials. I’m gen z, gen x is my 65 year old grandma. Yall gotta learn 😭
