Since everyone here is too stupid to understand, I will tell you, when hot metal gets to a really high temperature, the metal bounces off your skin, cool?

it all has to do with the natural layer of oils in the skin and the direction of hair follicles. the epidermis is lava repellant

the moisture in your skin starts to steam at 180° and creates a temporary barrier on your hand, that steam I guess pushes it away for a millisecond lol

his hands were wet... the steam from water creates a barrier.

huh I cooked and held a 185 degree power washer for 13 years and cooked before that. I can't get my hand near my forge with bare hands at 1 hour. but on the other hand I dont burn myself when I move a pan around the oven.

his hands need to be wet for this to happen. if hands not wet then molten steel will stick to his hands and he would be shit- out- of luck

You can see this same thing protecting him if you look up the red hot nickel ball videos in close up you can see the water never actually touches the ball because it’s boiling the water faster than the force of the water can push on it and creating an oxygen layer around the ball like a force field

for those who dont know the leidenfrost effect is when a moisture absorbs the heat so the thing its protecting doesnt burn.

I would be more impressed if he went up instead of down because then he would be like holding it at least for a second going down isn't nearly as bad as going up with it!as

I'm more intrigued by his "respirator", the way he's just casually got a tube attached to an air filter. 😭
