I had a 458 socom fire by simply chambering a round, and the rifle was on safe when it fired. You just don't know, so whatever the firearm, it should always be pointed in a safe direction. The round that went off was a 500 and something grain copper maker round. Would have been almost impossible for a human to survive a hit from that particular round, even being subsonic.
