Close and long range optics. If your using an LPVO, say 1x8 or 1x10, as your primary optic, and suddenly you need to engage at CQC distances, most "trained" personal will mount a red dot slightly offset from primary optic to the side.
certain angles allow for better precision/control and in some cases mobility for turning and snapping on targets..it's a personal preference just like how some prefer certain reticle or scopes, simple yet effective especially when u realize it can all be over in a matter of minutes or seconds..
