turn it into a welfare fox. it will become dependent upon human charity and stop hunting naturally. when it doesn't get fed it will start attacking for free food.
The fox has lost it's fear of people which is a bad thing. The fox could easily run into someone who meant it harm.

I had a few fox that was doing the same thing with me. The neighbors saw it and reported it.... the animal control came out and removed them. It made me very sad, but I understood my neighbors concern.🤔

The fox trusts people because it is a cub and has not yet had a bad experience with a human. Why isn't it's mother fox around? Is she dead and the cub is alone? The couple should track the cub and find out if it's on its own.

Wild animals know who's good and who's bad. A livestock farmer deals with animals daily. I grew up with dogs, cats, cattle and chickens. All can sense this and be made pets.
Danger is looming for the little fox cub. A hunter will just shoot him or her.

The problem with this feel good moment is that by feeding wildlife like this they turn the animals into a welfare case and they soon fergit how to hunt fer their food and fend fer themselves in the wild... this also affects the eco system because that fox isn't helping to keep the rabbits and rodent population in balance... just like a hunter harvesting a mature buck or a elk herd bull. the old guy is gone an the younger bucks or bulls fight fer dominince one of them wins, thus creating literally a fresh injection into the herds gene poole thereby making the species stronger...
