Dog trainer with more than 30 years experience here, including with really dangerous dogs. And I have scars for every time I didn’t pay attention. Y’all are looking at this with human eyes and you need to look at it with dog’s eyes. You have to get the language right. You can’t speak buffalo to a polar bear and expect it to understand you! She’s giving one a real telling off but she never touches him. Not once. She doesn’t even pin her ears. There is nothing about her body language that says she’s going hurt any of them. If she wanted them gone, they wouldn’t be this old. The other puppies aren’t afraid of her. They’re doing what they were told. It’s naptime or bedtime and she’s not telling them again. That’s why the others move away from the front of the bed and pile up. The puppy she’s chewing out isn’t afraid of her or he’d be showing his belly in submission. Instead, bro doubled down and he’s sassing back. If you’re going to join the conversation, you need to speak the language!

That is not normal behavior. I think it’s time to separate the pups from Mom.
Look at how fat those pups are. She has taken very good care of them. Momma dogs have this behavior at weaning time. They do it as discipline. She never bit. She only growled and showed teeth. In the dog world, that is a warning. The pups are in their learning stage. It may look barbaric to some of you but dogs aren't people. The may be treated like people but they're still animals. They teach their young in animal ways. So please don't look at everything as a human. Try to look at it like a dog momma. Read a book or two on behaviour. It is very interesting.

Take a Xanax and calm down! She’s not a danger to her pups. They’re not listening and she’s had all their nonsense that she’s gonna take. At its basic level, she’s teaching them how to speak dog and understand pack hierarchy. Clearly, the one at the top of the screen is the worst offender because it’s getting the worst of it. But she’s not going to hurt them. Even if she snatched that one up and pinned it on the ground, she’s not hurting it. She’s making sure it knows that she’s the boss. That’s what dogs do to show dominance. And once the pinned dog is allowed to move, it will roll over and show its belly in submission. This is a big litter so Mom has to be extra strict about the rules. If you look at the other pups, they’re sneaking peeks at the problem child but they aren’t making eye contact with Mom. So, everyone calm down and let her handle her babies. When they go to their new home, or to the dog park, they’re going to interact with other dogs. And this is how they learn that.
