We had 21 dogs at one time and 10 siblings, our doggy would walk us to the corner to go to school and be there at 3 20pm to walk us back home

I may only have two. But when I get compliments on how they mind, off the leash that's great. Especially at the groomers when I do not like my two full size German Shepards are being held in cages. I understand the reasoning. I teach my dogs to mind and the groomer, without my knowledge let them move around in the closed off grooming area. Complimented their minding big time. I do not abuse my dogs I use a brown paper bag to discipline them with. A bag full of air.

Last but certainly not least is, Lucky, who strikes me as one of — if not THE — dog(s) who’s the most familiar with this routine and/or has the highest level of self-control. Her attentiveness is remarkable. Even when she seemingly turns her head away/parallel to the handler during the first half of roll call, she is in no way distracted. She’s actually not looking anywhere other than her handler out of her peripheral vision. This initial head turn is exemplary of a dog who’s signaling *extreme patience* through body language/averted gaze. By turning her head, she’s telling the handler “I know others will be called before me and I am perfectly okay with that. I don’t need to stare you down the entire time to let you know that you have my full attention, so please, you take your time to get to me, I know you will eventually.” Notice she doesn’t turn her head back straight on toward the handler until he’s nearing the end of the names. This is her saying, “Alright, I know I’ll be called shortly, you just say the word — I’ve got this!” This is a canine who LIVES to please her handlers. That little sideways head turn is her way of showing off her mad impulse control skills. She genuinely enjoys the task of self-control, because for her, the wait makes the reward all the more satisfying. The handler accurately interprets/reads her emotional state and needs by observing these subtle cues, and communicates to her that he’s receptive to what she’s telling him, through acknowledgment v
