had some of those minions walkie talkies mcdonalds gave with happy meal toys at a nephews house. i heard the kid having an actual conversation with one but the other was dead on the counter. i heard a grown man talking back on the walkie talkie to my nephew and it completely threw me off. i thought some creep had somehow connected to the walkie talkie, turns out it actually interrupted the local police radios frequency. i imagine it just connected to one radio that was close enough by because i didnt hear a bunch of chatter over it, just the one guy. i just never fathomed a kids toy walkie talkie interfering with a cops radio

oh my god! I lived in a trailer park in the 80s, and we lived by Highway 12 and 8 west of Olympia, and we would sit on an old Ford building and wave at truckers and do the honk arm. then my dad got me regular toy radios, and I remember we could talk to the truckers, and they would ask where our dad was! I sang so many songs into those 😆 🤣 😂 poor truckers

I worked at a dog kennel full of women and we used walkie talkies to communicate with each other in various areas of the property. One day we picked up a crew of lineman on our channel. One of the girls asked one of those guys to bring us some lunch - which they did, and they brought it to us. Though I was the manager, kennel techs on average make about $10/hr - having our lunch bought was a real treat.
