My grandma on my mom's side never had a driver's license because she was blind in one eye. About the time I hit my 20's, I took on the responsibility of taking her to the grocery store every Saturday morning. She would always try to make me take gas money, I would always refuse. Then over the course of the following week, I would always find a $5 bill randomly stashed somewhere in my car. The last time I took her, it was no different, then that Monday she fell and broke her hip, went from surgery, to hospital for several weeks, then to a nursing home for rehab, then sadly, to a funeral home. Her body just gave up. Point of the story, is those Saturday mornings were some of the best mornings of my life. The last $5 bill I found, I tore in half, put half in her casket with her, and the other half in my wallet to this day.

what id do to talk with my grandma one more time, miss her like a mf, no matter what fights or trouble i was in with family or whatever else, she took me in every single time without question no matter the day, time, circumstance, nothin….one of a kind, to me anyway. She always used to break my balls about when id have a baby and the absolute shittiest part was that she passed away in the hospital bed literally while talking about my daughter that would be born just a few short months later , it was literally the last thing she thought about before she passed and unfortunately never got to meet her…that always bothers me. Don’t take your time with grandma for granted people! One day you’ll wake up and they won’t be there anymore, it’s just life.
