I've only been salt water fishing and one time had a real fight like that going for almost an hour and the I felt a snap and though oh shit must of lost it and then when I reeled it all in it was just a giant piece of seaweed 10 feet long I was so mad lol
those alligator gar are primordial, if you skin it right if you guys are eating it they're skin makes a great piece of armor with those plates they got, can make a cool little vest might even be arrow proof though don't test that unless you put it on a dummy.
