Fishing is only considered a "sport" because those who like sitting in a boat doing nothing for hours other than hoping they will catch something with the $20 lure they were told was the "best out in the market" needed something acceptable to tell their wife that makes a matching truck, trailer and boat with an outboard engine strong enough to propel a bigger boat with the matching truck, trailer and boat on it worth spending on said Chevy truck that will never live up to being a truck outside of hauling a glittery trailer and bass boat and a way for them to feel like they belong in the general category of "athletes" in spite of the beer belly they began working on at 32y/o. I say that maybe with a little bias feelings having played multiple sports that require real physical ability and athleticism, but also because I've seen a man with none of that land a tournament winning striped bass with a 1inch cut of worm on a perch hook. Golf is 10脳 more a sport. Fishing is a passtime.
