so many people want to say that it is okay to shoot someone on private property this is 100% wrong and will get you put in prison. the law makes a very obvious distinction between dwelling and premises. a dwelling is where you live where your family lives and anyone entering that dwelling with ill intent can be met with deadly force in any state with castle doctrine. someone on your premises your yard your barn they are trespassing and have to be told to leave if they don't you may call the law. if they become aggressive and attack you you have every right to defend yourself under your state self-defense law. the easy way to understand this equation is Firearms protect life insurance protects property
