Just tie it off the side and tow it back in. Or you could just release it too, just for the halibut.

Good luck getting that thing landed, I don’t think one person is capable of being able to pull on the boat. It looks about as big as the boat.! So I don’t think the fisherman is gonna be able to land that because of its size. Which is the crying shame, because I’m sure it’s a good edible fish, and he’s gonna have to cut it loose.

Halibut are great. Brought 100 pounds of fish home as luggage from Alaska, got a couple Ling Cod, Chinese Sea Bass, and 4 Red Snapper. Good eating. Was on a charter though, only 4 of us. I would have never gotten that thing in the boat by myself. I would have given it the old college try though.
Just let it go and say you did something good today you let it live. It’s old show some fish respect.
