Come on Jersey! I know we get hot fast and we demand respect from people but there are better ways to solve problems when your anger takes over. Stop, take a beat, and give yourself a moment to assess the severity of the situation. Are these people even worth your time? You are grown enough to know your worth. Now, if someone hits you then all bets are off, you betta do what a Jersey girl does and handles her business. But before it escalates into the physical, use the time to both listen to the bullshit they are saying about you and assess the situation at the same time. Most times you can leave it alone and walk away letting them know, "Thanks for your input but from my calculations and forecast, you're not worth it, I got things to do, bye!".
