I was today old when I watched someone make garbage instead making stuffed cabbage properly.
this is halupki, a poor polish dish which that didn鈥檛 really make properly at all. You boil a whole head of cabbage, cook rice and slightly cook the meat. After the leafs fall off the head of cabbage you put the meat, which is usually a combination of pork and beef, add the rice and roll it into cylinders. You lay them the poor sauce over which HAS to be homemade or it taste artificial. It鈥檚 delicious when cooked well.

we always called this "pigs in a blanket". can be made with different meats and veggies but to us, that's what we called it. im guessing its based on a dish from Poland as my mom spent years in Cleveland OH, which has a large & long standing community. I was born there but moved to tn around 9ish and remember alot of friends were polish and I remember mom being in the kitchen helping cook when we would visit
