The real tip is to use parchment paper. Who wants paper towel shreds in their butter?

No one in food service is doing this.
I use soap, also, so it cleans the knife as it cuts.
No caterer would do that! They either buy preportioned butter pats or soften butter and pipe it into small bowls. Nobody has time for that nonsense. 🤣

Paper towels are full of chemicals. Just run the knife under hot water, or use a cheese wire.

If you’re cutting butter on a huge scale like catering, then I say ok. But on a small scale I say it’s a waste. A waste of paper towel and time.

Wax paper is better. No paper lint in butter.
Is paper towel an approved food contact item? You can use it at home but probably not in a restaurant.
I’d use parchment paper, it seems cleaner, with out the extra fibers.
