All fresh products have a date on them. Whether sell by or use by. Always get the later date products. Also, never pull from the front or the top. Some stores don't rotate their products. FACTS!
you never grab from the top.. facts....if you look at the bottom of the stack you will find cheaper pricing better marble better meat for a lower price
waste of time chef here freshness of meat isn't nearly as important as knowing what to do with it like honestly you won't now the difference between a steak that's a day old or we cut it that day cause hey guess what all the meat was ordered at the same time then they cut it and package it when they need too we do the same thing in restaurants 😂😂😂😂 your all delusional
Why never heard of it
I look at the marbling of the steak. Where it is on the stack doesn't matter.
I used to work at grocery store, they put old up front, new n fresh in the back. so always grab in the back or the bottom one.

well if everybody refuses to pick from the top eventually the ones on the top will become who wants on the bottom anyway the reason why people don't pick from the top it's because the top ones are always the oldest because when employees are rotating the merchandise and they're always putting the newest stuff on the bottom or in the back so that way the older stuff can get sold before it goes bad so if everybody's always trying to take the newest freshest best items there is then for one the stores are taking a huge loss and the next person in line get stuck with something that everyone else touched and nobody wanted it
I never take from the front or top because people will have things sitting on shelves or in a box for hours because someone changed their minds and didnt feel like putting it back. Then you have these people that act like they hate working and will just put an item back no matter how warm it got

Fa. Ct, the stuff placed on top is the newest stuff. The stuff on the bottom is the oldest. Except in those normal refrigerator things that are lined in the back. Those are filled from the front to the back. You just don't know and everybody else. That watches this, don't believe them, captain, it's not true and it'll never be true.
Why
it doesnt matter if your getting your meat from a major chain like that where the meat is at least a month cut and treated with dyes to look fresh.

is this a rotation thing? in my experience the staff are pretty lazy and don't rotate so make sure you check the date if you pull from the bottom or the back.
I just look for the ones that have the most fat marbling
