Back then, there was a nifty thing called microfiche. They did not file large files on paper. They are teeny tiny pictures of the papers you read with a magnifier. This is fiction.

I really believe the time will come when the internet is no longer. I think we are too dependent on tech and to completely rely on computers to store vital records would be irresponsible. We could use them to process the data but we should have hard copies of the critical information. Also, all information being put onto the system is a potential target for hackers.

The amount of paperwork I had to do was ridiculous. Now keep in mind that "at least" 50% of that paperwork is lost and must be redone. Some things are redone several times. It's a total waste of human resources, which boils down to TAX PAYER DOLLARS.

These files are top secret documents on what the retired person worked on in his career. That is what working in a civil service job requires. It also takes passing a strict investigation on your past to even get the job in the first place.
