True story: I managed a Speedway gas station/convenience store for 6 of the 7yrs I worked for them. One day, late 2023, an older gentleman and his wife came in. They were here visiting from TN. The man pre-paid for his gas and they placed a coffee order at the Dunkin Donuts we had inside our establishment. While the wife waited for the coffee, the man went out to pump the gas. The wife approached my counter asking me to call her husband. After being sent to VM and receiving an auto generated text, I sent this….

i was taking my elderly aunt out for lunch and told her to wait on the front of our apartment building we each lived in, while I go get the car. i drove off the parking lot and then I remember I didn't pick her up after I drove about 3 blocks.
I left my husband at a party I was tired and went home I couldn't go back to get him I had no idea where we were at somebody else had to bring him home because I didn't pay attention when he drove us there😏boy was he MAD😠

My husband did the same thing to me. This was before cell phones. Fortunately, where we live in the suburbs, there is a way to our house that has sidewalks. The long way, of course. I walked home. When I got home, he wasn't there. I got the xtra key and went in. 20 min later he showed up with a new lawn chair for me. He went back to the store, and they told him I left. He tried.

My parents left me at a gas station in Mobile, Alabama when I was 11 years old. Finally, they realized I wasn’t in the car and came back for me. Unfortunately, there was road construction and all the on/off ramps were closed for several miles. It took awhile for them to get back.
