In July 2025, a man was killed in a hospital in Patna, India, when five armed men stormed into the facility and shot him multiple times. The victim was identified as Chandan Mishra, a murder convict who was out on parole for medical treatment and admitted to the Paras HMRI Hospital. CCTV footage from the hospital showed the five assailants casually walking into the hospital, making their way to his second-floor room (room 209), and carrying out the shooting before fleeing. Police investigations indicated the killing was the result of a rival gang war. Mishra had a long-standing feud with a former associate, Sheru Singh, and the attack was orchestrated by the rival faction. The incident exposed significant security lapses at the hospital, leading to public outrage and the suspension of five police officers who were meant to be guarding the patient. Several individuals were later arrested in connection with the murder, including the prime suspect, Tauseef Badshah.
