When technology progresses the manufacture of old transistors and engines is lost and not made anymore. To make the stuff again would be too difficult. Modern stuff is not up to those standards in robustness. It like having a 1950s truck with steel so thick you can dent it and you can fix it with bailing wire and duct tape but it gets 4 mph, to a modern truck where they have made everything light weight and efficient but a bad sensor can stop it on the road.
