That explanation is far too simplistic. Just leave out factors such and plagues that whipe out civilizations, natural disasters that whipenout civilizations, famine that whipes out civilizations, and genocide that wipes oit civilizations. Not to mention thd Bible talks about a great flood that wipes out at a minimum all the people of the mediteranian.
