TMI but my little sister once had an affair with my bf while she was engaged. Once the wedding was cancelled she proceeded to date and live with him for 6 months. After that went to shit (because how could it not) he called and genuinely apologized, so I forgave him. My sister on the other hand texted me several months later to wish me a happy birthday and just said, my bad - miss you. She still has never accepted responsibility, told the full truth, or offered me any kind of genuine explanation or apology for what she did. I held her WAY more responsible because I was confiding in her and she was hanging out with us. 20 years later we speak, but I keep her at arms length because she can’t be trusted. It took me well over a decade to even start speaking to her again. A lot of our friends and family made me the villain for forgiving him and treating her like she deserved but at the end of the day she’s the one who owed me loyalty and respect. He was just having all the cake 🍰🧁🎂
